Ifølge Daily Mail ble barnet jevnlig mishandlet og slått av de svarte adoptivforeldrene. Barnet ble slått ihjel i deres hjem den 14. januar.
Tirsdag forrige uke bledet svarte paret Ariel Robinson (29) og Jerry Robinson (34) arrestert i delstaten Sør-Carolina, etter at politiet fikk en nødmelding om et bevisstløst barn i deres hjem.
Det bevisstløse barnet var den tre år gamle adoptivdatteren Victoria Rose Smith, som paret hadde adoptert.
Barnet ble fraktet til et lokalt sykehus, hvor hun senere ble erklært død på grunn av skadene. Rettsmedisinerne har konkludert med at treåringen døde som følge av betydelige skader på overkroppen, som følge av slag med en butt gjenstand.
Lokalavisen Greenville News har tidligere publisert en artikkel om at paret hadde adoptert tre barn, i tillegg til sine fem biologiske barn.
Ariel Robinson, 29, and her 34-year-old husband Jerry Robinson were picked up on Tuesday by officers with the Simpsonville Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Cops responded to a call about an unresponsive child at their Sellwood Circle home around 2.25pm on January 14, according to a press release.
The child, identified by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office as Victoria Rose Smith, 3, was transported to an area hospital where she died.
Cops said that the Robinsons ‘did commit child abuse by inflicting a series of blunt force injuries, which resulted in the death of the victim.’
The coroner’s office confirmed that the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, WHNS reported.
The Robinsons each face a charge of ‘homicide by child abuse’ and, if convicted, face sentences of 20 years to life in prison, cops said.
